When Flex was released I had a play around with it and found it kinda cool. I did however lose interest in it. Recently I re-gained some interest and created a flex file manager.
Its using amf to communicate with php. Currently amfphp only supports amf0 so its not amf3 yet. SabreAMF looks promising so I might try it with that in the future.
Its still got a few bugs but the general gist is all there.
Have a play. Any feedback would be great.

This looks great Marc. I’ve had a quick play around with it myself, however would be interested to see what other modifications you are thinking of making.

Very cool, but only prob is having to need flash 9.. which not everyone has!
well, I have a few ideas and some of them are…
Fix current bugs.
Move (for files and folders) drag and drop.
Rename folders.
PNG preview (not sure why this isn’t working)
Zip and unzip files.
Multiple login accounts thats has different storage areas.
convert amf0 to amf3 when amfphp (or similar) supports it.
These are my ideas at this stage. Do you guys have any other thoughts?
I have seen audio spectrums created for flash 9 so that might be something cool for mp3 playback.

I got a question though: is it possible to create files on the client hard drive through a “Save As” dialog box without using any server?

I think your FlexFM is really cool. Something I was planning to build myself, only with Coldfusion on the server side. Maybe you would like to make the source available. If not I would like to contribute with a CF version.

just interested in how you got the tree leaves to have folder icons that open and close when they are empty? default behavious is for child nodes with no children to display page icons (as opposed to folders). I’ve been trying to implement that kind of tree functionality on a project and that was one of the things I had difficulty with….
I saw the FlexFM and i thing it’s great!
It’s any chance to get the source code?
