well, I rollerbladed to work today… Something I haven’t done for about 5 or 6 years!! My legs feel a little strange as I used muscles I haven’t used in a long time.
Its interesting tho.. I had no troubles picking it up again. I guess its like riding a bicycle.
*edit* an update on this.. I skated (skateboard) to work today… prob never again!!

A few nights ago I was looking for a password generation widget but couldn’t find a decent one that didn’t phone home. I came accross the Dashcode beta a while ago and figured I would jump in and create one. My first widget (Byte Calculator) was made with all the seperate files that make up a widget and I thought it would be interesting to see how Dashcode does it.
I was impressed at how simple dashcode makes the widget making process. Infact I finished the widget in about an hour.
I just finished giving it some style tonight and thought I would share it with the world. Let me know what you thin.

I’ve just completed moving servers and I’ve also upgraded wordpress to the latest version.. so far so good.
*edit* I had to turn off php safe mode in order for the file uploading to work. Anyone know how to avoid php safe mode file permission errors?
WordPress looks very nice, well the admin anyway.. the rest of the site is the same.
Here is another wallpaper.. I took this shot on Anne’s camera while waiting in line to go into the Carols at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl last year. I’m only providing it in one resolution as its a pain to create all the other sizes. If you would like a different size just post a comment..

I was just informed of a new open source project call SMSG (Simple Menucoder Shell GUI) that a friend from UNI has been working on. I won’t try and explain what it does because Matho has done such a great job himself:
“Usage primarily as a batch video trans-coding application without all the tabs, buttons and crap that frustrated the shizen out of me with other applications that hook into the mencoder executable.”
I’m looking forward to future updates as this looks very promising!
check it out here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/smsg/
This photo is actually a screengrab from a shot I took with my video camera. I took it while standing in lydiard street, not a bad zoom! Let me know what you think. I wasn’t sure exactly what resolutions to use so I hope they are ok.

Widescreen:
1680 x 1050
1440 x 900
1280 x 800
Standard:
1600 x 1200
1280 x 960
1024 x 768

Hey everyone, guess what! I’ve decided to blog more often…. I hope I get around to it.
Lately I’ve been really getting into ajax and actually really enjoying it. I do get frustrated at browser differences but thats just one thing you need to deal with when working on the web. Late last year we released astsports.com.au that really got me started with ajax and it seems to be working ok at the moment. We have endured quite a few server issues along the way which hopefully should all be sorted out by the end of the week. I’m afraid I’m not really a fan of the Zeus web server. Getting some form of mod_rewrite working (or getting the webhost to do it) was an incredible pain. I’m not actually having a go at the Zeus software as I’m sure its incredibly powerful but for me it was really hard to find information on what I wanted to do or actually find an example at all. I guess as its popularity increases things might change but give me apache any day.
While I’ve been learning ajax and playing with my macbook I’ve actually been avoiding flash. Today I came across a little animation that reminded me why I love flash so much. It was released for the flash 10 aniversary. Check it out here: http://flash10.nectarine.com.au/ If you know anything about flash and where it came from you would get an appreciation of this animation and even if you don’t I’m sure you will enjoy the fabulous work nectarine did on it.
Smalldog started this week at our new location and all is going well. I’m really enjoying the natural light.. its amazing stuff!! The old place just doesn’t compare. Christmas was a blast and New Years was crazy but all in all everything cruise.
I’ve been compiling a list of hints and tips for mac switchers that I’ll share once I write it up and I also have a few wallpapers that I’ve made from photos that were taken with Anne’s new camera. Expect to see more soon.
